Two-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON VT:," circa 1870, keg-form cooler with tooled banding and circular bunghole, decorated with a slip-trailed foliate motif accented with spots. Spot decoration to bunghole. Cobalt highlights to banding, maker's mark, and capacity mark. Two small adjacent chips to interior of rim. A shallow 5/8" chip to interior of rim, painted brown. A 3 1/4" hairline from rim on reverse. H 11 1/8".
