One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. NORTON & CO: / BENNINGTON VT:" circa 1860, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a scrolled branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Very nice condition. Three minor spout chips. Minor wear to cobalt. Two small in-the-firing contact marks to base on front. H 10 3/4".
