Molded Stoneware Pitcher with Albany Slip Glaze, attributed to American Pottery Company, Jersey City, NJ, circa 1838-1850, hexagonal pitcher with upswept spout and ornamental handle, featuring an elaborate floral motif on each panel, modeled by Daniel Greatbach. Surface covered in an Albany slip glaze. Provenance: For a pitcher produced from the same mold, see Stradling and Denker, Jersey City: Shaping America's Pottery Industry, 1825-1892, fig. 14. A thin, approximately 6" crack from rim on side of pitcher. An X-shaped crack on underside, including one crack extending 2" up base. Some minuscule nicks to shoulder. Stacker marks to underside. H 11 1/2".
