Scarce Glazed Redware Jar with Incised Banding, Stamped "JOHN M SAFFORD," Monmouth, ME origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with footed base and flared collar, decorated with wavy incised combing between bands of straight incised combing, the upper body and interior coated in a brownish lead-based glaze. A small chip and wear to top of rim. Wear and shallow chipping to inner rim for lid. A few minor base chips. H 8 3/8".
