One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with footed base, flared collar, and tooled rim, brush-decorated with a fan-shaped flower emanating from a leafy stem. Brushed foliate motif to spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced PA collection, purchased by the consignor between 1963 and 1975. Chipped areas to rim, most of which is glazed over. Traces of old brown and black paint to surface. H 10".
