Glazed Redware Octagonal Pitcher, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, molded pitcher of octagonal form with upswept spout and angular handle, featuring an unusual scroddled clay composition in the English style, the surface decorated with streaked manganese under a clear lead glaze. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. Excellent condition with in-the-firing contact marks to bottom edge and a few minuscule nicks to interior edge of spout. H 9 1/2".
