Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Huntington, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "THOMAS MEDFORD. / STOVES. / QUEENSWARE / ETC. / HUNTINGTON. W. VA." Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. A glazed-over 1 1/4" in-the-firing ping to shoulder. A glazed-over 1 3/8" ping near base on side of jar. Some fry to cobalt. A 5/8" rim chip on reverse with a short crack descending from it. A few chips to interior of rim. Chips to inner wax sealer rim. H 10 1/4".
