Two Stoneware Jugs with Cobalt Numeral Decorations, NY State origin, circa 1870-1875, a one-gallon jug with slip-trailed, striped "1," stamped "WEST TROY, / N.Y / POTTERY," paired with a two-gallon jug with ornately-slip-trailed "2," stamped "HUDSON.N.Y / POTTERY." West Troy jug with an in-the-firing flake to top of spout and some small traces of old gray paint to left side of jug. Hudson jug in excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small, in-the-firing surface fissure to right side, a minor in-the-firing chip to underside at edge, and some very minor, in-the-firing surface fissures to underside. H (of two-gallon jug) 14".
