Outstanding Open-Handled Redware Jar with Yellow-Slip Floral Decoration, Eastern PA origin, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, ribbed strap handles, and vertical inset rim, decorated in yellow slip on the front and reverse with a slip-trailed flowering plant with central blossom in the form of a stylized heart. Slip-trailed daisy motifs at the shoulder and wavy stripe above. Yellow slip stripe decoration to handles and below handles. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. An early work featuring excellent form and decoration. Provenance: Collection of Lewis Fenley "Dusty" Parker. Rim with wear and a few minor chips. Exterior with minor wear around midsection and a minor surface flake. A flake to interior base and minor interior wear. Wear to handles. One handle additionally with a very shallow 3/4" chip to edge and a thin horizontal crack. A faint 1" line on underside, continuing 1 1/4" up base. A minor in-the-firing ping to underside. H 7" ; Diam. (at rim) 6 1/2".
