Extremely Rare Great Road Redware Cream Pitcher with Profuse Copper Slip Decoration, probably Christopher Alexander Haun, Greene County, TN, mid 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base, tooled midsection, and flared collar, the surface decorated with brushed swathes of copper slip across the body, collar, and handle. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Interesting incised slash marks to base of handle, reminiscent of Haun's treatment of using impressed decoration to ornament the terminals of his handles. Distinctive, vibrant color to glazed surface and decoration, essentially matching other attributed Haun works. Exceptionally rare form and size. Spout and rim chips, including one small flake reglued to interior of rim and a tiny flake reglued at spout. Otherwise excellent condition with minor wear to handle, two minor contact marks to foot, and a tiny fleck of glaze loss to body. H 4 3/4".
