One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, NY State origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a stylized tulip. Albany-slip-glazed interior. Very nice condition with two minor base chips and the following in-the-firing flaws: a 3/4" chip to base, a discolored, smooth in-the-firing contact mark to front, a 3/4" hairline to upper handle terminal, and a contact mark to shoulder on side of jug. H 12".
