Rare and Fine Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "LIBERTY FOREV / WARNE & LETTs 1807 / S. AMBOY. N. JERSY," Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, 1807, approximately one-and-a-half-gallon, semi-ovoid jar with rounded and heavily-tooled shoulder culminating in a flaring rim, the front with cobalt highlights over the impressed slogan "LIBERTY FOREV". Midsection decorated with impressed and cobalt-highlighted leaves with saw-toothed edges. Attractive form with strong color. An excellent example of early New Jersey stoneware. 5" long spidering line on reverse, which appears to be in the firing. 1 1/2" in-the-firing Y-shaped line on front. In-the-firing iron spots on surface. H 12 3/4".
