Outstanding Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. &. CO. / ROCHESTER. N.Y.," circa 1850, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout and applied handle, decorated with a large slip-trailed daisy plant, featuring a front view of a blossom on the left and a profile view on the right, both heavily-detailed with shaded petals and dotted interiors. Slip-trailed "3" at shoulder. A fine example of this pottery's exemplary floral designs. Provenance: Exhibited at Museum of American Folk Art in "The Pottery of the State," April 18 - June 2, 1974. Some fry to decoration on right side of the flower on left. A 1" U-shaped crack at base. H 15 1/2".
