Fine Anna Pottery Stoneware "Railroad and River Guide" Pig Flask, Signed "By Anna Pottery / 1876," Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, 1876, molded flask with incised details to face and hooves, anatomically-correct underside, and spout in rear, the surface covered in a chocolate-brown Albany slip glaze. Incised on one side, "Latest and Only Reliable / Railroad and River Guide / By / Anna Pottery / 1876." Remainder of flask incised with a map of the Midwestern U.S., including the following landmarks: St. Louis the future Capital in, Miss River, Chester & Tamaroa, Chester, Cairo the, Grand Tower, Cairo Short Line RR, O & M R.R., Vandalia, Bloomington, C.B.i.C. R.R., Effingham, Odin, Centralia, Tamaroa, DuQuoin, Carbondale, iCRR, Mounds, Anna the Jug City, Cincinnati the ancient Porkopolis, and Chicago the great corn mart of the world." An excellent example of the form, featuring a desirable Centennial date, Anna Pottery signature, and elaborate map, including the landmark "Anna the Jug City."
