Exceptional Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD POTTERY CO.," George Satterlee, Fort Edward, NY, circa 1859, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a crested bird with long tail and ringed eye, perched on a heavily-striped stump atop a well-detailed ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Imposing size to design with outstanding color. Excellent condition with some light staining and a 1 3/4" x 1/8" worn spot to side of jug. H 16".
