Fine Alkaline-Glazed Double Face Jug with Rock Teeth, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA, circa 1970, ovoid jug with two applied handles, decorated on each side with a hand-modeled face with large rock teeth, kaolin eyes, and black-glazed pupils. One face bears a stoic expression, while the other has a mischievous smile with eyes looking to the side. Surface covered in a dark, mottled alkaline glaze from "frogskin" coloration to the base area. Incised on underside "Lanier Meaders". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year PA collection. Excellent, as-made condition. H 9 1/4".
