Extremely Rare Miniature Stoneware Presentation Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "M.M. S / 1874," attributed to Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA, 1874, ovoid pitcher with footed base, tooled midsection, and flared collar with rounded rim, decorated with two graduated flower blosssoms flanking the incised and cobalt-highlighted inscription, "M.M.S / 1874". Spout decorated with a cobalt highlight underscored with two cobalt spots. Handle decorated with cobalt spots along with highlights at each terminal. Relatively few presentation pieces from this important Central Pennsylvania pottery are known. The size and form of this example are noteworthy. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 4 7/8".
