One-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "A. STATES", Adam States II, Stonington, CT origin, first quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, featuring the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark, "A. STATES", and cobalt highlights to the handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A base chips, a spout chip, and a minor spout nick. Some in-the-firing flaws to surface. A small amount of old green paint to surface.
