One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "Wilkinson & Fleming. / Shinnston, W.Va," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with bold stenciled rose motif surrounded by Shinnston & Fleming maker's stenciling. Stenciled wheat decoration to shoulder. Excellent color with crisp stenciling. Two chips to underside at edge, possibly in-the-firing, the larger measuring 3/4". A fairly innocuous in-the-firing contact mark to right of initials "W. Va".
