Fine Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "T. HARRINGTON / LYONS", NY State origin, circa 1860, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, rounded collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of three tulips with several stamens, emanating from a central stem, interspersed with graduated, dashed vining. Freehand cobalt "6" to shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Small chips and wear to inner rim for lid. A few additional small chips to interior of rim. A 1/2" filled hole on right side, below handle. A 7" Y-shaped hairline below left handle. Two tiny nicks to left handle. An approximately 4" X-shaped surface line on reverse, not visible on interior. An in-the-firing iron ping at base on reverse. H 19".
