Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "C.W. BRAUN / BUFFALO, NY", circa 1865, ovoid jug with thick, semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on the leaf of a plant, with an additional plant in the background and grasses in the foreground. Good swag-like details to bird's body and wing. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Excellent size and color, featuring a design less-commonly seen by this maker. Excellent condition with a small chip to underside at edge on reverse and a glazed-over base chip on front.
