Exceptional Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H. MYERS", Henry Remmey or Henry Remmey, Jr. at Henry Myers' Baltimore Stoneware Manufactory, Baltimore, MD, circa 1825, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled rim, decorated around the midsection with a long horizontal stem bearing leaves and six fern-shaped blossoms. Collar decorated with vertical cobalt stripes. Large circular cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed below the spout with the mark of merchant, Henry Myers, owner of the Baltimore Stoneware Manufactory. Spout impressed with a distinctive, raised-face two-gallon capacity mark. The finest signed pitcher that we have ever offered from this influential Baltimore pottery, featuring an impressive large size and extravagant, enamel-like brushwork executed with a large brush. A long stripe of in-the-firing dryness to reverse, extending partway onto side. A small in-the-firing dry spot to handle. Some restoration to base on foot/bottom front, not visible on interior, including an unrestored vertical 3 1/2" line emanating from it. A small Y-shaped surface line at base. A 1" restored surface chip to front. A shallow 1/2" rim chip on left side of pitcher. H 14 1/4".
