Exceptional Stoneware Canning Jars with Stenciled Cobalt Decorations, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1865-1870, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and rounded "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a stenciled design of a thistle below the stenciled town name, "Greensboro". Freehand cobalt stripe below rim. Excellent condition with very minor wear to inner wax sealer rim, a minor in-the-firing contact mark to right side of jar, and a small, 3/8" stone ping to side of jar, which is glazed over. H 6 3/4".
