Rare and Fine Stoneware Canning Jar with Profuse Stenciled Cobalt Star and Freehand Decorations, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1870, tapered jar with rounded "wax sealer" rim and tooling to midsection and shoulder, decorated top-to-bottom with five freehand stripes, two rows of delicately-brushed freehand vining, and a central band of five stenciled stars. Among the most heavily-decorated Western Pennsylvania canning jars that we have ever offered. Chips to inner rim for canning lid. Otherwise excellent condition. H 9 3/8".
