Slip-Decorated Redware Dish, possibly NC origin, early to mid 19th century, flared dish with footed base and angled rim molding, decorated with a central flower blossom composed of slip-trailed manganese and cream-colored slip, surrounded by additional slip banding and a series of rays. Shoulder ares with additional two-color-slip banding and wavy lines. Rim with manganese stripe decoration. The central spotted daisy motif and striped details, as well as the dish's shallow depth, relate this work to pieces produced in Alamance County, NC. No specific maker, however, can be determined. Heavy chipping to rim. A tight 5" crack from rim and foot. Some glaze wear to rim and interior. H 1 7/8" ; Diameter 10 1/4".
