Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Chicken Waterer, Stamped "THOS. HAIG / 975 N. 2ND ST. / PHILA," Thomas Haig, Jr., Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, dome-shaped form with handles, flat finial, and hooded watering trough at front, decorated on the back with a two-stemmed flowering plant. Three stylized leaves or flowers at base and one on top of hood. Finial and handle terminals highlighted in cobalt, with an additional curved line of cobalt underneath each handle. Reverse base impressed with cobalt-highlighted Thomas Haig maker's mark. Line on underside extending 3/4" onto base to right of watering trough, and extending 3" onto watering trough. H 7 3/8".
