Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral-Decorated Crock Motif, NY State origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of crock with floral motifs, accented with cobalt dashes around the rim and along the edge. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. An unusual image, executed with brilliant cobalt. A faint, inverted Y-shaped surface line on exterior, not visible on interior. Some surface wear to right side of front at base. Some staining to surface. A 1 1/2" line above left handle. A salt drip to top of right handle. Some in-the-firing lines to interior, not visible on exterior. Some small chips and wear to bottom edge of crock.
