Fine Large-Sized Rockingham Spaniel on Elaborate Base, probably East Liverpool, OH, third quarter 19th century, molded figure of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with collar and locket, seated on a rectangular base with canted corners, decorated on four sides with a relief hunting dog motif. Surface covered in a mottled reddish-brown glaze with blue accents over a yellowish ground. A superb example of this popular form. Excellent condition with a few minor kiln scars to base. H 12 1/2".
