Very Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Horse Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1870, cylindrical Jar with rounded rim, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a running horse. The number "2" is brushed below the rim, flanked by cobalt accents, underscored by a lightly-brushed cobalt name. A fine example of Midwestern stoneware with strong folk art appeal. As-made condition with a small, in-the-firing contact mark on left side of crock. H 11".
