Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "T.H. WILLSON & CO. / HARRISBURG. PA", circa 1852-1855, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and stepped rim molding, decorated with a heavily-brushed tulip blossom below the maker's mark of Thomas and Daniel Wilson of Harrisburg, PA, along with graduated swags flanking the mark. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. This jar is potted in a desirable one-gallon, features strong decoration, and bears one of the rarest Harrisburg, PA stoneware maker's marks. Horizontal line at base, stopping on reverse, with some short lines extending from it. A 1 1/4" chip to underside at edge, possibly in-the-firing, visible when jar is turned over. H 8 5/8".
