Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1835, cylindrical cooler with tapered shoulder, squared rim, circular bunghole, and applied lug handles. Front of cooler profusely-decorated with an unusual design of two flowering vines extending from handle to handle, both across the shoulder and curving downward towards the bunghole. Vines surround a central flower. Reverse with a small flowering vine extending across the shoulder. Brushed cobalt around bunghole. Handles with cobalt-highlighted terminals and a wavy cobalt line underneath. Excellent condition with a few small rim chips. H 16 3/4".
