Texas Stoneware Auction Highlights

Like other states whose stoneware industry was tied heavily to western expansion, Texas's key stoneware manufacturers had trained elsewhere and brought the styles of other regions to the Lone Star State. Great examples of this are John L. Stone, whose earlier association with the Kirkpatrick Brothers of Anna Pottery in Illinois is seen in his elaborate snake jugs; and Jefferson S. Nash, whose alkaline-glazed stoneware is rooted in the Edgefield, South Carolina pottery tradition.
