Rare Pair of Glazed Pottery Lion Figures, One Stamped "THE SWEDISH CERAMIC / MANUFACTURING CO. / CHICAGO, ILL", early 20th century, pair of molded lion figures, each reclining on a thick rectangular base, their yellowish glazed surface incorporating colorful flecks of green and brown. One lion includes pierced details to face and the maker's mark, "THE SWEDISH MANUFACTURING CO. / CHICAGO, ILL", on underside. Appealing glaze and unusual city of origin. L (of each) 5 1/8". Marked example with a shallow chip to back of one ear, a tiny base nick, and a small chip to underside at edge. Unmarked example with wear to one ear and a few small base chips. Dimensions (of each): 5" x 3" x 4".
