Six-Gallon Stoneware Cooler With Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "SATTERLEE & MORY / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1865, large-sized, cylindrical jug-form cooler with open handles and circular bunghole, decorated slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a leaf. Cobalt stripe surrounding bunghole. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes antique wooden spigot. Right handle restored. Some additional restoration to spout and possible restoration to shoulder area. Two thin cracks to left handle. A salt drip to left handle and two salt drips to left shoulder of jug. Some faintness to top of bird. A salt drip to reverse. A minor base nick to reverse. H 20".
