Glazed Redware Jug, Galena, IL origin, mid 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base and thick, semi-rounded spout, the surface covered in a lead glaze over a mottled orange and olive ground. Provenance: From a long-term private collection of Galena, IL redware consigned to this auction. Two in-the-firing surface lines to shoulder, measuring 2 1/2" and 2 1/4", visible on reverse and side. A 5" horizontal line extending through a small surface chip on side/reverse of jug. Light spout wear. Heavy chipping to base. A tight spider crack to base on front. H 11 1/2".
