Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cooler with Galion, OH Advertising, Ohio origin, late 19th or early 20th century, ovoid form with tall collar, semi-rounded rim, and applied circular bunghole on side, the surface covered in Bristol slip and cobalt-decorated with the freehand inscription, " 'SURE SHOT' / WHOLESALE DEALER / SMOKE / CIGARS / C. RIESTER and Co / GALION, O.". Base of collar surrounded by a freehand stripes.Excellent form and desirable tobacciana advertising. Excellent condition with a small chip and tiny nick to inner edge of bunghole. H 11 1/2".
