Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "J. HAMILTON / BEAVER", PA origin, circa 1850, semi-ovoid jar with combed midsection, tooled shoulder, tapered rim, and large lug handles, decorated with an unusual brushed cartouche to the maker's mark, applied over a slip-coated surface. An approximately 10 1/2" X-shaped surface line under one handle, not visible on the interior. Otherwise excellent condition.
