One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with combed incising to shoulder and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with brushed open-blossomed floral motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals, along with a wavy line of cobalt underneath each handle. Lid with cobalt swag decoration. Crock with several small rim chips, a 3 1/4" hairline from rim to right of one handle, and a 1" hairline from rim to left of same handle. Lid with heavy chipping to knob, a thin 4 1/2" crack from edge, a 1 1/8" flake to underside at edge, and a small chip to underside at edge.
