Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.B. KENNER / STRASBURG, VA", circa 1880, cylindrical form with tall, rounded collar and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a leafy stem bearing three flower blossoms. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed under one handle with a series of horizontal cobalt slashes, and under opposite handle with W.B. Kenner maker's mark below a large three-gallon capacity mark. A difficult-to-find Strasburg form and maker. A 4 1/4" crack on underside, curving 4 1/2" up base. A stone ping at base with 1 3/4" surface crack extending from it, not visible on interior. Chips to one handle. A tiny chip and additional minor wear to rim. Numerous small, shallow chips to base.
