Rare Glazed Pair of Redware Exotic Cats, probably PA origin, circa 1850-1885, molded figure of a reclining lion on oval mound base with hand-incised grass, the figure's eyes highlighted in manganese, the surface covered in a clear lead glaze; paired with a second reclining cat figure by the same maker, either a lioness or leopard, decorated with manganese highlights to the face and spots on the body, the surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Both in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Lion with a chip to one ear, some wear to muzzle, and a few shallow base chips. Other cat in excellent condition with minor wear to muzzle. H (of lion) 4 1/4" ; L (of lion) 4 1/4".
