Exceptional One-and-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Incised Bird and Fish Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1830, ovoid pitcher with short collar and rounded rim, the front decorated with incised and cobalt-highlighted designs of a ring-necked bird and fish with pointed fins. An additional, partially-incised design appears below the collar. A fine example of early Ohio stoneware. The employment of both bird and fish designs on this pitcher is noteworthy. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a recently-surfaced GA collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
