Very Rare Taneytown, MD Stoneware Advertising Canning Jar, Baltimore, MD origin, attributed to Peter Herrmann, Baltimore, MD, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and narrow, flaring collar, the front impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "FROM / JESSE H HAUGH / DEALER IN DRY GOODS / GROCERIES & C / TANEYTOWN MD". Exceptional form and rare Western MD advertising. Excellent condition with a tiny chip to underside at edge and a minor in-the-firing base chip, which is glazed over. H 9 1/2".
