Rare One-and-a-Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, attributed to Parr & Burland, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1820, thin-walled, ovoid pitcher with tooled foot and ribbed handle, decorated with a series of seven flowers extending from a brushed cobalt stripe. Collar decorated with a series of horizontal cobalt flowers. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Small impressed asterisk to side at shoulder. Pitchers from this period in Baltimore stoneware production are rare survivors. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. Repair to chip on side of handle. Repair to rim chip. 4 1/2" line from rim to left of handle. 6" vertical hairline on side of pitcher, continuing 3" onto underside. Additional 2" hairline on underside. Small base chips. H 12".
