Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Bird and Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.H. FARRAR & Co. / GEDDES. N.Y.", circa 1860, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a looping flourish, facing two flowers. Excellent details throughout, including crosshatched slip-trailing to bird's wing, and stripes to bird's body and flower petals. Slip-trailed "2" to right of bird, underscored by graduated cobalt dashes. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Fry to cobalt. An in-the-firing iron ping to shoulder on reverse. A minor in-the-firing ping to base. Two minor chips to bottom edge, probably in-the-firing.
