Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Inkwell, Stamped "M. TYLER. ALBANY / MANUFACTURER" and "M. TYLER. ALBANY", Albany, NY origin, circa 1840, cylindrical form with tooled accents, central ink reservoir, and three quill holes, impressed with Moses Tyler maker's mark on top surface and along base. Cobalt highlights to tooling and maker's mark on top of inkwell. Large loose pieces of fired clay or another hard substance rattle inside of the inkwell. Excellent condition with a few very minor base chips, one of which is glazed over. H 2 1/16" ; Diameter 4 3/4".
