Rare Glazed Redware Bowl with Profuse Three-Color Slip Decoration, Inscribed "anno 1857", Mid-Atlantic or Southern origin, 1857, tapered bowl with semi-rounded rim and applied handles with doubly-depressed terminals. Interior lavishly-decorated in yellow, copper, and manganese slip with triangular foliate devices and graduated drapes or "fish scales" bearing stylized daisy blossoms. Banding to interior shoulder and base. Interior base inscribed in manganese slip "anno 1857", underscored by a series of spots. Exceptional decoration, color, and condition. Excellent condition with expected light wear to interior, two chips to one handle, and a shallow 7/8" rim chip. H 5 1/4" ; Diameter 13 1/2".
