Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.H. LEHEW & CO. / STRASBURG, VA", circa 1870, large-sized pitcher with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and stylish, vase-like form, the front decorated with a tulip plant bearing three blossoms. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Collar impressed with W.H. Lehew maker's mark beside a two-gallon capacity mark. Desirable large size with appealing decoration and color. A tight 6 1/4" crack from rim on reverse. Otherwise excellent condition. H 13 3/8".
