Rare Six-Quart Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration and 1882 Date, Stamped "WEST TROY, / POTTERY.", New York State origin, 1882, squat-formed ovoid pitcher with tooled midsection and flared collar, the front decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed flowers above the date "1882". Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A difficult-to-find form for this maker. Very nice condition with a thin 2 3/4" vertical line at base on side of pitcher, extending approximately 1" onto underside and not visible on interior, and a horizontal line through handle.
