Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stenciled "E.J. MILLER & CO. / QUEENSWARE & C. / ALEXANDRIA. VA.", Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising "E.J. MILLER & CO. / QUEENSWARE & C. / ALEXANDRIA. VA.", surrounded by stencilled flourishes. Decorated above with freehand swags and stripes along with a stenciled "2" flanked by flourishes. Base decorated with a single freehand stripe. Provenance: From a Virginia estate. Bottom edge with a few small chips and some roughness. Some areas of bubbling to cobalt. A few faint lines to shoulder. Two in-the-firing contact marks to shoulder.
