Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon, attributed to David Parr, Jr., Richmond, VA, circa 1860, cylindrical form with footed base and carved oval opening at shoulder, the body decorated around the series of brushed swags. Opening at shoulder highlighted in cobalt. Excellent condition with a minor in-the-firing base chip, which is glazed over. H 4 1/4" ; Diameter 9".
